Nothing happened. Hopefully it's not a major leak or something. I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow or Tuesday. Sorry for the boring post, just had to vent. __________________ 1996 318ti - 2000 Z3 2.3 - 2012 MINI Cooper Hatchback | | | 05-24-2010, 01:51 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | don't feel bad, mine's never worked | | | 05-24-2010, 01:52 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | My E30's A/C doesn't work. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 05-24-2010, 02:05 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Westfield, IN Posts: 1,335 | yeah bud i wouldn't worry about it, sh!t happens. just drive with your windows down. __________________ Greg M42 Club member 186 WTB: HELLROT RED CLUB SPORT 95 ti sold but staying in the family. | | | 05-24-2010, 02:16 AM | #5 | Member Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: Kissimmee, FL Posts: 71 | I havent had A/C for a few months, mother nature is my A/C now I'm actually having my A/C worked on and my mechanic finally found the right compressor. I'm also having my electrical system checked since I do have a bit of misfire/rough idle(?) when I have my lights on and when the car is turned on. Any ideas? | | | 05-24-2010, 02:44 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2009 Location: Burlington, NJ Posts: 560 | Quote: Originally Posted by ChItalian1027 yeah bud i wouldn't worry about it, sh!t happens. just drive with your windows down. | Haha, no way.... I'm gettin this sucker fixed. For me A/C is an essential item for a working car. If it don't work, to me the car is broken.... Every option must function. but thanks for the support, and kind words all! __________________ 1996 318ti - 2000 Z3 2.3 - 2012 MINI Cooper Hatchback | | | 05-24-2010, 03:39 AM | #7 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | Quote: Originally Posted by amancuso Haha, no way.... My mechanic laughs at me for wanting EVERYTHING to work properly, especially things he considers to be very low priority, like A/C. Hopefully it's just a leaky hose and not a bad compressor. I just had a hose fixed, and a new... uh... moisture filter or something... installed. Was about $700. __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH! Luckily for me, a good friend of mine is an HVAC tech, and we already had to replace my condenser once when a rock hit it and let all the R134A leak out so this will be take 2 in only 1.5 years of ownership... blah... oh well, the joys of old-car ownership... (Still beats a new car payment!) __________________ 1996 318ti - 2000 Z3 2.3 - 2012 MINI Cooper Hatchback | | | 05-25-2010, 12:31 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2009 Location: Burlington, NJ Posts: 560 | Problem of the leak was found! Massive leak in the condenser.... Ah well, it was a used part I got for free and lasted me a year. This time I'm buying a new part. -Al. __________________ 1996 318ti - 2000 Z3 2.3 - 2012 MINI Cooper Hatchback | | | 05-25-2010, 11:52 AM | #10 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2010 Location: Newport RI Posts: 8 | A/C NOISE DURING HIGH SPEEDS ONLY The A/c makes a high pitched squeal when it engages at speeds above 50mph. It sounds like a fan, I know there are two but does one kick on at high speed or maybe the draft is accelerating the fan to a high rpm? I don't think it's compressor related. Thank you for any help. | | | 05-25-2010, 12:50 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2009 Location: Burlington, NJ Posts: 560 | How do you know it's the A/C? Does the noise stop when you shut off the A/C switch? If so it almost certainly is the Compressor, it could the clutch on it. __________________ 1996 318ti - 2000 Z3 2.3 - 2012 MINI Cooper Hatchback | | | 05-25-2010, 01:19 PM | #12 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2010 Location: Newport RI Posts: 8 | I would guess the compressor clutch then, the AC cranks in-town and idle... 134 is full with no leaks. The sound only happens when the compressor kicks in, doesn't happen with AC off. Aggravating. | | | 06-03-2010, 08:47 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2009 Location: Burlington, NJ Posts: 560 | A/C is back up and running! w00t! __________________ 1996 318ti - 2000 Z3 2.3 - 2012 MINI Cooper Hatchback | | | 06-04-2010, 12:55 AM | #14 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2010 Location: Canada Posts: 8 | congrats, let the good times roll.
