Hey guys my car is what after searching seams to be immobilized. Is this something i can fix myself? It's at the shop but they havent done anything with it yet. Should i leave it and let them fix it or is it something I can do myself? I know little about cars. | | | 08-30-2010, 07:14 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: maritimes Posts: 1,433 | its possible but need more details... rarely hear of cars tripping out on their EWS for no reason. __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 09-15-2010, 02:10 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | If you know little about cars you don't have the software or interface to align the EWS if that is the issue. If it is something else like the starter and you have little knowledge about cars it might be best to let them fix it but be prepared to pay some money. I will be glad to help you with advice if you pull the car out of the shop and want to fix it on your own. Drove it home, it sat for a week, went to drive it and it didn't start. completely shot, no lights or anything. At this point with school, no time on my hands and little money it's becoming more to maintain then it's worth. | | | 09-15-2010, 11:04 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Oxford, Ohio Posts: 868 | OUCH... $85 and it was a fuse? Was it fuse 46? I had a problem like this before... first thing I did was look at the fuses. That one was blown and it prevented me from starting. There are lots of reasons a car won't start, though. That's just one of them. Another common problem is the battery being down. BMW lights and radios work well on low volts, but not the starter. | | | 09-16-2010, 01:30 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2008 Location: Philadelphia Posts: 170 | Yeah I'm not saying it's something serious but at this point it's just been one thing after another and I can't keep forking money into this especially with it at about 155k. Looking into getting a 99ish M3 next summer or an is300. It's been a fun great car but i may be throwing it up for sale some time soon. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
