Default Air intake???

Hey guys what's going on hope all is well. I have a question if anyone out there who has some knowledge can help me out. I have a 96 BMW 318ti I need to get a new intake. I was thinking of getting it from pep boys but I dunno what size fits. Also my friend that works for autozone tells me it burns more gas so I have to get the original part from BMW. What should I do I'm stuck here...

Thanks in advance

if you just stick a cone filter on the MAF you'll probably wind up losing power, cosmoracing.com has a decent intake that moves the filter out of the engine bay but a lot of people have modified their stock airboxes for better airflow, it's a little more work but it's much cheaper with similar gains to a good intake

Foggin your airbox is definitely cheaper and well same gains is not that much work.. you can do it yourself follow the instructions but u can also come up with ur own materials instead of usin exactly what he used mine i believe looks cleaner in the airbox

that would be a great idea. I don't think it would be all that hard to mold a piece to fit right there. Time consuming though.

i haven't looked at the room down there completely but could this be routed over to the kidney grill or the main bumper grill?

might be too much tubing though.
