With 72k miles...was difficult to find a stick on the East coast, so moved quickly, hope that's not manipulated, but car seems low-mileage. Problem with door locks: Locking either door only locks that door and the trunk, not the other door. Where can I look? Assume it's not a fuse issue. Also, unlike my '95 this has a remote entry system which (un)sets the alarm but does not (un)lock doors, not a big deal, just curious if could be related to above. Finally, got a key from BMW (how do they charge $85 for a part already made and warehoused?) but dealer said they do not have extra remote (need one for partner)...so where can I look. Thanks a lot...and love this car so far (one week) | | | 05-10-2012, 07:01 PM | #2 | Member Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Louisiana Posts: 56 | Only place I have found the remote (I have a 98 active) is on Fleaby, pretty regularly. Odd part and a used one is your only shot but by part number they are listed pretty regularly. Do not buy look alike Subaru unit - wrong transmitter chip inside. Part number is 82 11 1 469 448 with an FCC id code A269ZUA111. Couple of folks recycle them pretty regularly, prices run from 25 to 75 bucks, although I did see some a while back that claimed to be NIB and asking 150 bucks or so...Good luck to them! Final question (excuse the naivete): what happens if the remote battery fails when the car is alarmed, ie how do you unset the alarm? I guess it's the same as if you lose the remote & you don't have a second one. | | | 05-11-2012, 11:59 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Louisiana Posts: 56 | Been there, done that. As long as you have the key and do not mind a few seconds of noise, no problem. Unlock door with key, open, get in (quickly, cause the alarm is going off) put key in ignition and turn key, alarm turns off. Thanks, feel a lot better about the single remote now. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
