The rears were a bitch. Can't remember the last time I had them off. Needed to drill one retainer screw and whack the crap out of them to get them loose. Even with a generous spray of PB Blaster. Next replace rear parking shoes. I haven't had a parking brake in probably 10 years. Replace rotors. The rotors don't look bad now that they are off the car. Fronts have a lot of spider cracks though. They can probably last another year but figure I'll replace them since I need new track pads. The rears are old. Then diff fluid. And finally oil suction tube. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-01-2013, 11:13 PM | #2811 | Member Join Date: Aug 2012 Location: Vancouver, BC Posts: 67 | Finally the weather today was good enough to be able to detail the engine bay from all the oil that has been there from the valve cover gasket, discovered that I have 2 brake lights that were blown, and my trunk switch is acting up and cause a battery drain so need to order a new one! | | | 01-02-2013, 05:58 PM | #2812 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Auburn, Alabama Posts: 206 | Quote: Originally Posted by Michael_M Just got myself a new head unit which is the Pioneer X6500BT, Bluetooth, USB, Aux, you name it.. waiting for its arrival to install! Love Christmas.. | Just put a new headunit in mine. Tried printing a wiring diagram from Mitchell, and it didn't tell me what actual wires go from the headunit to speakers, just what wires fed into the amp. http://www.modifiedlife.com/1997-bmw...-wiring-chart/ That will save you time. What I found out on my own though, is that it does have an illumination wire that if I remember correctly was yellow. Be sure to hook up your white wire to the powered antenna wire out of the new unit. __________________ -'98 318ti -'87 VW Scirocco, 2.0 Motronic swap -'95 VW Cabrio | | | 01-04-2013, 02:50 AM | #2813 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Front rotors, pads. Done. Still to go. Rear parking brake shoes, rotors, pads. Diff fluid. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-04-2013, 04:12 AM | #2814 | Member Join Date: Aug 2012 Location: Vancouver, BC Posts: 67 | Quote: Originally Posted by UberWagen Just put a new headunit in mine. Next up, replace rear wheel studs. Need to find a 5.5mm hex socket now. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-07-2013, 02:46 AM | #2817 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | Installed new Kenwood speakers in my kick-panels. And, finally got around to putting the four black door speakers in the door panels that Justin gave me. That only took 8 months to source those for Zippy. But, it's done! __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 01-07-2013, 08:17 PM | #2818 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Installed a motion motorsport underpanel and radiator baffle yesterday. Quality piece, it really strengthens the whole front bumper/fender liners. Install was really easy, the ti has all the holes already in the frame rails so no extra drilling. My stock stuff broke after hitting 1 cone at autox, lol. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 01-08-2013, 03:57 PM | #2819 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Posts: 1,364 | Quote: Originally Posted by FunElan Painted my steelies silver yesterday, the car looks a lot less like a beater! I posted pics of mine a page or two back on this thread. PM me if you want the part number for the caps. Cheers! One got stripped and I ended up removing the rotor AGAIN to remove it. Instructions called for installing with double nuts. They should have come with higher quality nuts to do the install. Get to drive it again. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
