Engine revs itself or throttle stuck It's been a long time since I've been here, having been caught up in the Marine Corps and racing motorcycles but I have run into an issue and would like help before I total the car out. I hit a curb, like those foot tall median curbs, and it cracked the wheel on the car. After getting a new wheel on there there is an issue besides the obvious alignment. When driving over 20mph the engine will rev itself/ apply throttle, with the clutch in/neutral it will sit at 5K rpm. It only does this over 20mph, if going above 20 it will apply throttle, disconnected the cruise box to rule it out. Once you push the clutch in the the revs go up to 5K and as you coast or apply brake, once you're under 20mph the revs drop to a normal idle. The other thing about it is if you apply a hair bit of throttle, what would normally be 2,3,4K Rpm, in neutral it will fall to that RPM. However let off the throttle and it goes right back to 5K. I'm uploading youtube videos of it in action last light and will post the links of both when the process. Background: 97 5spd with 182K owned since 136K All regular maint done and have replaced crank/cam sensors in the last 3 years along with other odds and ends. |
