I did find a m roadster diff and working on the new rear subframe and control arm reinforcement. And hopefully soon i will start on the widebody kit. Also been looking at options for a roll cage. | | | 11-12-2017, 03:01 AM | #122 | Member Join Date: Nov 2015 Location: missouri Posts: 99 | Finished the welding on the lower control arms except the sway bar mounts. Haven't decided how i want to make them. I may make the endlinks out of tie rod ball joints, and cut off the front spindle arms of a spare set i have and attach them to the lower control arms to give a little more leverage. | | | 11-12-2017, 04:02 PM | #123 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: US Posts: 315 | Damn that’s some serious power. What’s does if feel like driving? Is that spraying as well? After i have a solid map at that power and AFR is tuned and consistent I'll start to bring in the nitrous and that should be able to put me over my 1000hp goal. Also really need the wider tires because it is super squirrelly in 1st to 3rd. The new diff will help with the taller gears. Going from 3.45 to 3.23, i may go even more aggressive and put in some 3.15 or 2.93s. | | | 11-12-2017, 08:16 PM | #125 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: US Posts: 315 | Amazing, have you posted this on any of the other BMW forums? R3vlimited would love this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro | | | 11-12-2017, 09:44 PM | #126 | Member Join Date: Nov 2015 Location: missouri Posts: 99 | No other forums, just here. A few of my friends said i should of made a youtube series of the build, i may get myself a few gopros for myself this Christmas and may start filming the final tuning and first passes at the track exc. This whole thing started like an episode of How I Met Your Mother, someone said that i couldn't do that and I blow it up. And i said Challenge Accepted! And then I thought it would be cooler if the whole thing was built out of my basement. | | | 11-12-2017, 09:48 PM | #127 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: US Posts: 315 | YouTube would be neat. Are you on any of the Facebook groups? This would get a lot of attention on the big sites. Are you going to build the car to handle or is more of a straight line car? I'm trying to get the best of both worlds but most road course tracks don't allow nitrous, so I'd have to remove the bottle. Id like to have a second tune for a little higher boost and no nitrous for the road course. May set that one up for boost by gear and have it add boost as speed increases. Also one of my favorite things to do is bait mustangs, corvettes, and chargers into racing this little 4 cylinder. If too many people knew what's under the hood, might be harder to find people to embarrasse. That's my favourite bait line, "It's just a little 4 cylinder". | | | 11-12-2017, 10:08 PM | #129 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: US Posts: 315 | Ya that’s going to surprise everyone and really hurt some feelings when they walked lol. I️ bet at 600 you will have the highest HP M4X motor. And if you reach close to 1000 I️ would say highest street BMW 4. I’ve seen a few 700hp M10 based motors but that’s about it. Are you doing oil analysis on it? M10 block, dohc head and 79psi boost in qualifying trim (estimated 1400hp, didn't have dynos in the 80's that could accurately measure it). This was my initial inspiration for the idea that everyone said it couldn't be done. | | | 11-12-2017, 10:30 PM | #131 | Member Join Date: Nov 2015 Location: missouri Posts: 99 | "What I really love about my job is this continuous research of the limit. There was one for sale on ya Cali/SFO area craigslist a while ago. My parents got to hear them run back in the day. Modern F1 doesn’t interest me the way the 70s-80s does. Hell most modern day motoring doesn’t except for eastern euro rallies and some US rallies, plus select few of races, Isle of Man etc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro | | | 11-15-2017, 01:19 PM | #133 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | Awesome thread! | | | 11-16-2017, 01:00 AM | #134 | Member Join Date: Nov 2015 Location: missouri Posts: 99 | ZEK wanted a shot of the exhaust.
