The reason why you can get so many SR20's is that the back end of the car is totaled from drifting. When SCC (sorry I refer to them a lot) did their swap it had a 6 puck clutch, most likely from drifting. If there is one motorsport that is hardest on a tranny, and engine, this would probably be up near the top in the list. | | | 12-16-2005, 10:46 AM | #63 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Posts: 22 | thats why you buy the stock motor's and get the compression tested first. buying a motor that can make 400 hp is cool, but then you have to consider how WHY that car made that much power and what the popular form of driving in japan is, lol | | | 12-16-2005, 08:09 PM | #64 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Quad Cities, Iowa Posts: 2,110 | How about a mid engine ti? Throwing a V8 in the back of a ti dosent sound that bad to me. I shure wouldnt mind a little extra weight back there. | | | 12-16-2005, 08:14 PM | #65 | doesn't care about you. Take a look: http://180customs.net/projects/CRX.html This is a daily driver and it always will be. I can do a motor swap over a weekend. I'm not doing anything super radical to the ti. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 12-16-2005, 09:56 PM | #67 | doesn't care about you. On top of that we just got 2 RX-7s to autocross next year, so those have to get done. One of the RX-7s is getting the SR20 treatment, so we have an extra turbo 13b. The Del Sol looks good. How far are you from central Wisconsin? We'd be willing to take a trip to see another fabricator at work, eh. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 12-16-2005, 10:07 PM | #68 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Posts: 22 | Quote: Originally Posted by DustenT Holy crap, small world. I had my car weighted a while ago, I'll have to hunt around for the slip. I'm guessing around 2800lbs or less. I know the Ti tranny is heavier than a SR tranny. I don't know about the motor tho. Like I said, it will be awhile before this gets going. I'm going to bump the boost upto 10-12 psi this summer and add some software. It should go like hell, untill it blows. Then I'll do the swap. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 12-16-2005, 11:06 PM | #70 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Quad Cities, Iowa Posts: 2,110 | Yeah Ive seen your site before.
