Default 97 318ti greensih

http://portland.craigslist.org/car/139940932.html

I was wondering if this is a good deal. I took it for a drive today, drives nice, however it is a auto not a manual . It has 160,000miles on it. None lether interior , and its like a green body. I did find that withthe car being so low the radiator was bent a bit.

Again i ask if this is a good deal?

The price is right for the miles considering the body/interior look as good as they do. Not sure what you mean by the dented radiator, if you mean fins..bend em out, but with 100.6Kmi. and if it is original, you'll need one SOON, along with a water pump. It is high miles for the year..this means: sub-frame bushings, shocks and control arm bushings (just replace the whole thing). Don't be surprised if the tranny gives it up real soon, if it is original. Change ALL belts and probably the idler pullys and possibly tensioner as well. This car is at the point where you easily could spend as much as it cost, but you WILL end up with a fun and great handling car to use for many years to come. Thing to come: plug wires-the starter and LOTS of window problems, expecially if you live where it's cold.
OK guys, did I miss anything.... Oh, don't forget we all have been willing do all this just to drive one.

So to get all the bushings replaces would that cost me ALOT, or can i just buy the parts then do everything myself?

Also so after around 150K the trannie likes to die?

I'd go with the first one you posted over that one...

replacing the bushings/wear items isn't that hard with exception for the subframe bushings. If you're mechanically inclined there's a lot of advice here that could help walk you thru almost anything maintenance related on these cars.

The Salvage Title on this one bothers me. You'd need to have it inspected to understand why it is a salvage. Most likely it was seriously wrecked and rebuilt, but it could be a flooded car or any number of things.

Does the seller have records on what has already been replaced/upgraded? Its possible that some of the items mentioned in this thread have been done already?

Ok well with the white Ti, the reason why it is under a wrecked salvage was from damage on the right front wheel area, im guessing a low impact like hitting a curb.

Like my saturn SW2 hit a curb, the front left wheel weld is bent, it will cost us 2grand to fix. The saturn would be considered a salvaged car since the car is only worth around 2grand. I dont think its that big of a deal.
