Im not sure why people are complimenting your wing because it looks complete crap. The rest of the car is pretty descent though. When Im rich and have 20 tis then Im going to get one like that to kill stangs and cameros. And the muffler tip looks pretty bad but Im sure you can fix that.

At least he posts picture of his car....

It's a functional wing, it's not a show car. You really need to learn to keep your ignorant comments to yourself. Didn't your mother ever teach you not to say anything if you don't have anything nice to say?

Just because you don't understand what a functional spoiler is, doesn't give you the right to rip on it.

Here is the dyno chart. People's opinion of the spoiler doesn't bother me. It works exactly as designed (very, very well) and I'll give the boys in NASCAR their due on this one.

Ive tried to post pics but the site wont let me. Functional wings can still look good. I was watching a Grand Am race today and there were alot of cars with functional wings and none of them looked bad. It dosent make sense that you would put money into every part of your car and then leave the wing like that. And all because I dont have the money to put in a DASC in or other mods like you dosent mean I dont know what a functional wing is.

The aero device I fabricated is a spoiler, not a wing. It makes downforce by redirecting airflow, and has been carefully designed with regards to width, height, and angle. It's function is quite efficient with minimal drag. Best of all, it cost less than $100 dollars to complete.

We could have fitted an airfoil type wing with endplates, but it would have had to be mounted very high and back in order to be in any kind of airstream to be effective. Not to mention that legitimate airfoil wings, unlike the multitude of knock-off copies available out there, cost a minimum of $1500 for the element itself, not including the uprights, endplates, wicker, or any kind of supporting struts.

By the way, if you look closely, you'll notice that most of the Daytona Prototypes in Grand Am also use a spoiler on the back of their bodywork, in addition to a wing.

The 318 is designed and built simply to be functional, not look like some purist thinks it should look.

John - very very nice - we're going to have to get both of our cars on the same track sometime!

Randy - Do you have any specs on what sort of downforce and/or drag this spoiler makes, and what sort of forces the ti experiences at various speeds? Having recently gone to a good deal more power that I had before, I'm thinking looking into something like this would be a good idea as well.

It shouldn't be hard to clean up air going under the car from the front, and I also wanted to look at the air coming out from the back - cleaning up that should help a wing / spoiler up above work more effectively too.

Anyhow, can't wait to hear how it goes on the track!

Andy,

Randy took off tonight for the East Coast to look at a Viper Race Car for sale. We don't have any specs specific to the Ti, but after he decided on the design (6" at 70 degrees per published studies) we noticed an increase of 5-6 mph with versus without in the same sweepers plus a complete lack of lift on the straights when combined with the front spliter/undertray (also fabricated by Randy).

Hope to see you in July?
