I had my shake down day at the track yesterday, we had a great turn out of people just to see the ti. I was slow as hell for the first few sessions as I experienced how difficult proper threshold braking without ABS can be (flat spotted a new Hoosier). I kept hitting 5th & 6th instead of 3rd & 4th numerous times while adjusting to the tightly spaced shift gates and my overly cautious application of throttle at apex, all added up to slow times and a steep learning.

Randy jumped in the car and set the track on fire, only a new Z06 could run with him, everything else he passed like they were standing still.

I can't wait to get back out and continue getting comfortable in what is a completely different and wildly exciting car

The steering is lighter than with the 3.0 and the feedback on the track is excellent.

John - Sounds fantastic! Did you end up sticking with similar spring rates as before? I tried some stiffer more equally balanced spring rates Friday at BW, and had some improvement some places, and lost some ground in others.

Great to hear the car is running well! Can't wait to see it in July.

I don't know, It may be fast but who wants to take out a Euro engine and replace it with American power. To me that just seems weak.

Weak! Son...obviously you have no idea what power is. weak is an extremely outdated 1.8 liter 138 h.p 4banger probably with miles uptheass. Where the owner decided to repace and upgrade (while being unique and creative). No matter the motor brand we are all envious and you cant deny it. Myself? Well I need more from my 95 m3!

yeah but european motors have a different feeling to them than american motors. It seems like a waste, I'm sure it's very nice and fast but it's just not my style.

there are some american engines that are weak, I don't consider this one as an example of that, most high volume econobox US engines are my opinion of weak.

I personally don't like the american engine in the european car, but I still can appreciate a cool car and a nicely done job when I see it. Just because my choice for an engine swap would be a BMW I6 doesn't mean that someone else's ideas aren't equally as good. And I'd be proud if I owned this car.

I get what this guy is saying. I dont think he means weak as in power. I think anyone who is into cars knows that American engines are anything but weak. He probably thinks that it is a bad idea to put a American engine into a finely crafted German car. This is probably because of the stereotype that American cars are for the most part poorly made peices of crap that cant handle and have little stopping power. And what everyone knows is that most stereotypes are true, but here you are taking the best part of an American car and using it to replace the weakest on a German car. I agree with him half way but I know, just like everyone else, that the ti needs more power.
