I call her blackie (or a racial slur derived from blackie when she doesn't work like I want her too).

Maybe that kid was right when he tried telling me that my alternator was a supercharged?

Yes ti's are slow, but 0-60 should only take 7-8 seconds.

Where are you getting that number? In the manual it puts 0-50mph and about that time.

0-60 8.3 seconds manual
0-60 9.6 seconds auto

This info is not in my owners manual,i got these #'s from the 1997 bmw 318ti dealer brochure. My car is an auto and i reach 0-60 alot quicker than 9.6,i'd say i hit it in low 8's or high 7's.

If you have a naturally aspirated M42/44 with an automatic transmission, you are not hitting 60 in the 7-8 sec. range. Go out and test it with a G-Tech (which is optimistic anyways) and then let us know what your results are.

A stock or mildly modded 318ti with a manual transmission that can do 0-60 in less than 8.5 sec. is running very, very well.

Hmmm...maybe I should fish out the G-Tech and post my numbers. Does anyone else have a G-Tech that they could do some runs with? I haven't G-Tech'd my car since I had the auto tranny in.

Remember, in order for the G-Tech to give you accurate numbers you need to have the exact weight of the car. I usually go to the local truck stop and weight the car with me in it. I think they charge like $5 to do this. FWIW - Last time I did this it was 30 degrees farenheit and I hit 211 hp, and 14.4 second 1/4 mile time with the automatic tranny. It would be interesting to see how much faster the manual tranny is.
