Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Denver, CO Posts: 3,925 | stay away from that car. You should have even compression across all cylinders. Just for reference, I've had a supercharger on my car for 40k miles, I have 141k miles total on the engine and I have 185-190 on all cylinders. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 10-07-2006, 06:05 AM | #17 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Bend, OR Posts: 413 | where @ in oregon is this car? If she did, she beat the crap out of it. Something else tells me she's not actually a waitress, but does come home with a fist full of tips. This is not a good car. What's your location so we can steer people away from this one? __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 10-07-2006, 05:29 PM | #19 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Quote: Originally Posted by jdsteel731 I managed to talk him down to $5500 BUT here's the issue: We had a mechanic do a pre-purchase inspection and he found the following problems: . | Who was the mechanic? Those compression number are fairly bad the guys at pacific didn't pass the car did they? If I'd have been doing the inspection you'd have been told to run away. I suspect a leakdown test iots going to show the engine is shot. You might look around for a 93 to 97 318 coupe or sedan. Try Craigslist. I found a few decent BMW listings there in Oregon just now: http://portland.craigslist.org/search/car?query=bmw Automatic transmissions are not rare in the 318, It's just that there's just alot of us BMW enthusiasts out there that love to "drive" their BMWs, not just ride around in them, so we tend to prefer the manual transmission. | | | 10-08-2006, 09:46 AM | #22 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Portland Oregon Posts: 1,363 | Ok is the seller a female, I think i talked to her once, SO can i stop by and look at it? | | | 10-09-2006, 02:45 AM | #23 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Norfolk, Virginia Posts: 289 | Personaly dude, I LOVe having a Manual Ti. If your Mom is hardcore about only letting you get an Automatic, (cause my parents were until I joined the Marines and bought my own manual) i'd stay away from this car, not just cause of that, but also the engine/transmission issues, you'll find another Ti that's in better shape for the same, or better price. __________________ _____________________________________________ Cold air, Dual Exhaust, Ellipsoid headlights, CCFL Angel Eyes, custom ICE, M3 wheels, Cobra Radar Detector, CF eyebrows, ACS CF gauge bezel, clear corners, Euro tail lights.
