Default So I bought a new set of headlights...

I bought a set of Depos from DDM Tuning today.
Anyone want to take a guess when they will arrive?

I ordered 35W 6000K HID's and CCFL angel eyes.
Also got Laminex. I have some crystal fogs I need to install, and will do it all after the stuff gets here.

By the way I am planning to modify the cut-off shield, too.

I'll take pics when I get it all going.

DDM tuning is an awesome aftermarket vendor. I ordered some fog lights from them about 2 wks ago. I ordered them with the cheapest shipping on a Monday and got them that Wednesday.

What did they charge for shipping? I was going to buy some Depos from them last summer. Shipping was something in the $50-$60! range so I backed out.

They have to build them so it won't be super fast, but it won't be too bad since this isn't a major holiday/shopping time.

I installed my 55w 6000k Depos over the weekend and I love them. I can't believe that I can actually see the road, lol. No one has flashed high beams at me and they seem to be aimed pretty low.

When you say you are going to modify the cut-off shield, is that to make the cut-off straight across with no upward sweep to the passenger side?

They told me 2-5 days to build, then ship. They say MANY people complain about the build time whne they order during a sale. Since there is not a sale now, I hope that they ship by Friday.

I called and asked what the shipping would be before I ordered. they told me 40-50 bucks for UPS ground. Sounded steep, but shipping is high these days. for example, I just paid $135 to ship exhaust to me from California.
At any rate when I placed my order online, the shipping came up at $63! So I called before submitting my order, and they said they would refund me $13. And I see today that they did indeed refund me. They claim there is a glitch in the new web site.

So if you are ordering... call and get the shipping reduced.

As far as the cut-off sheild is concerned, I will modify this:

Into this:

I think a slight tick is important for aiming.

Gotcha, that will look good. I might modify mine but I really liked how they lit up the side of the road. Be careful with the corner lights, I followed DDM's procedure and tried to be as gentle as possible and I still broke one of the tabs.

Yikes! Did you buy Depos or Apexcones?
I am hoping for an install without any breakage. So if you have any more tips other than "be careful" I'd appreciate it.

I bought Depos. I only broke the lower tab on the passenger side Depo, still, it looks crappy to me because the bottom of the corner light pops out a little bit. I'll have to zip-tie it when I get a chance. Here is the guide I used.

Maybe I'll try a heat gun... and install in a heated garage or sunny day.

Overall the headlights look great. They did not sent the PnP harness... or the Fog light Lamin-x. I called them yesterday and they sent out both items. Hopefully I'll have them by next weekend.

I took a look at the cutoff sheild. It looks different than the last photo I posted. It is not mounted to the projector lens housing. Instead it is mounted to the reflector housing. Also the cutoff uptick is not as dramatic as the previous photo I posted.

This came out of the passenger side headlight. I'm leaving the driver side intact in case I need to look at it to get the passenger side one back together.

One thing I did not like about these lights is the way they slapped the angel eyes in. The ballast was just thrown in the bucket and the wiring was a mess. I will clean this up, too.

Dave;

I, too, have both Depos and Apexcones. Having swapped headlights on both cars numerous times, you think I would be an expert, but I still broke one of the guides on the Apexcones during installation. Gently warming them will help prevent breakage, but taking great care is your best bet...

Be sure to take pictures of your reflector mods, I am very interested to see the results!
