So I went to my buddy's shop to borrow his lift and tools We found the culprit, laying in his lair. We had no choice but to depsose of him. | | | 04-05-2008, 07:43 PM | #18 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | | | | 04-05-2008, 07:43 PM | #19 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | So then I begin to cut the nuts and bolts, and the battery died in less than 20 seconds. The bolt flew off and hit a buddy in the nose LOL he didn't even flinch. I kept it as a souvenirs. So they both come off and they are not reusable, good thinking I brought replacements straight from the dealership. I recommend this, even if you get them off by the wrenches and vice grips. So the hardest part is now complete. Make sure you hold onto the spring that fly off as well. One of mine flew off and I couldn't find it, so I had to borrow one from the guys there. Here are what the hangers look like on the OEM catback. The middle The left | | | 04-05-2008, 07:44 PM | #20 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | The right To get those off, you have to push them off of the edge with a flathead. trying to wedge/fold them out will not work, and it will wear you out. Comparison of the Remus and the OEM remus has 20,xxx on it, OEM has 125xxx on it. Some Remus photos | | | 04-05-2008, 07:44 PM | #21 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | The remus was quite the lightweight champ putting it on there on my own. I had to hold the fat end up with my head to fasten the middle hanger. Here are the Remus hanger photos After you have those in, get a vice grip and clamp the flange together to put the nuts and bolts back in, don't try to hold it together with your hand or else it will not be a tight fit. More photos, edits, videos, and audio to come, stay tuned. I've got 8k as well. They seem to be the best for style and function. The brand of mine isn't anything special, but I guess they are pretty good because the igniters are built into the balast, unlike my old ones. How much did those cost you? | | | 04-06-2008, 01:59 PM | #26 | Site Moderator Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Naples, Florida Posts: 238 | Nice.. it was a little over $200. Not too bad. It's the race kit too. __________________ Nick 1995 BMW 318iC.
