It looks like monstrous with the wide single exit. I starting to take off the stock catback, but I had class at 4 and my brother was going back to work, plus, the factory nuts are terribly deteriated and they stripped in an instant haha. So I didn't want to be under the car by myself plus be late for class. I got some new nuts from my brother's job, so I should start the install early in the morning tomorrow. Pics, vids, audio, and a full DIY are on the way. Stay tuned. Also this summer I plan on turboing the m44, so this is just the beginning of the summer project. Blessings. | | | 04-04-2008, 03:50 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Westfield, IN Posts: 1,335 | nice job man!! congrats on gettin ur exhaust!! keep us updated bro!! __________________ Greg M42 Club member 186 WTB: HELLROT RED CLUB SPORT 95 ti sold but staying in the family. | | | 04-04-2008, 05:04 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: Honolulu, HI Posts: 133 | Thanks for purchasing the Remus. They refuse to be moved! I may have to do a few more push ups or something, I'm going to take an hour break to jot down some ideas, get something to eat and whatnot. In the mean time, how did anyone else get the nuts on the flange off? I've pretty much tried everything. . . I checked out the tutorial in the knowledge base, but these nuts won't budge(thats what she said) | | | 04-04-2008, 04:48 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Oxford, Ohio Posts: 868 | PBlaster is your friend. I also tried a CRC Freeze off product that worked well, too. Good luck... can't wait to see the pics/vids | | | 04-04-2008, 04:59 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: San Diego Posts: 340 | I'm assuming you're talking about my KB article. What are you using for leverage against the flange bolts? Sounds like you need to get yourself a bigger piece of pipe. Breaker bar against one side, and a 6-pt socket on the other... and enough pipe to give yourself leverage against the fastener. Or, if you have a grinder, you can just cut it off, which is much easier. Check the links for hardware P/Ns in my KB article for replacement hardware. Good luck, tbw __________________ 1/1997 M44 ti M-Sport Schwartz II | | | 04-04-2008, 05:02 PM | #10 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | Thanks fellas, those nuts are beyond anything a ratchet can do. What would you guys recommend I cut them with, I don't have an air chizzle. | | | 04-04-2008, 05:27 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | hack saw or a little cut off wheel. __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 04-04-2008, 05:31 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Boston, MA Posts: 1,152 | Spray it with PB Blaster or rust remover and let it soak first. Do you have a torch to cut or heat up the bolts to loosen the rust. Nothing else works then a good metal saw will have to do. When changing exhaust one should always replace the old bolts and gaskets. | | | 04-04-2008, 09:51 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Westfield, IN Posts: 1,335 | r u doing this urself or r u having a shop do it? if a shop then use an air ratchet by self i guess use PB Blaster. Thats what we use in the shop at my school+air ratchet __________________ Greg M42 Club member 186 WTB: HELLROT RED CLUB SPORT 95 ti sold but staying in the family. | | | 04-05-2008, 12:26 AM | #14 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | Yo yo guys, I went to German Auto works to borrow a lift port, I got photos, of the procedure and everything I had to do. Should be up by tonight but let me just say... THE REMUS IS DEADLY!!! I am very impressed by a used Remus, imagine if I bought one brand new. Its deep enough to feel, but quiet enough to hear a women walking in heals on the sidewalk. It doesn't overpower my music, but raw enough to create a soundtrack of its own. I haven't quite ripped it on the strip yet, but when I do, I'll be sure to have vids. Basic vids coming tonight though. | | | 04-05-2008, 02:34 PM | #15 | Site Moderator Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Naples, Florida Posts: 238 | Where are these vids man? __________________ Nick 1995 BMW 318iC.
