Tuning for what specifically? I'd like that done too. | | | 06-20-2008, 04:09 AM | #94 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | idk yet if they r going to make something custom or not, but i want something like more rpms more hp even if its not gonna pass emisions __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | 06-22-2008, 10:31 AM | #95 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Va Posts: 256 | Quote: Originally Posted by Jean H.318TI im out im gonna buy the dinan one is only $299 and gives 8hp and 8torque so is way better and they are going to do something custom for me i think | For some other models, E28 M30 + E30 M20/M42, Turner/Conforti or D'Sylva programming has the rep of being more agressive than Dinan. Word on Dinan was that it only changed anything at WOT(i.e. when you floor it) in order to maintain 50-state(Cali) legality. I'm not going to say that Dinan sucks for the M42/M44 becasue I haven't tried it, haven't even read bad things about it, but you may want to look into more options. D'Sylva did a GB for E30's, and the M42 guys really liked it. I e-mailed him twice awhile ago about an E36 M42 chip, but got no reply. . .dunno WTF that means. . .Maybe he's not interested in doing a chip that's good for only a 1995 M42, but his website says,"OBD-II downloads are now available for 1996 and later BMW's. I can program any car and the results are much better than with any other software available." so maybe you M44 guys are in luck. I believe he may need a local(Toronto) guinea pig though. http://www.dsylva-tech.ca/ The Turner OBDII reflash looks a lil' pricey at $369, and thay don't show one for an M44, but they used to put the OBDI chips on sale periodically for $225. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html...6&subcat_id=74 | | | 06-22-2008, 05:11 PM | #96 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | If those sites are legit, then I would like to know if they can do custom stuff too. The m42 chip from Turner gives 11 hp and more torque, those are pretty good gains. I didn't come across anything for the m44 specifically though. | | | 06-23-2008, 03:56 AM | #98 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | Can you show me where the M44 OBDII software is offered, I don't see it in these websites. | | | 06-23-2008, 11:17 AM | #99 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Va Posts: 256 | Quote: Originally Posted by BMW_Hatchback Can you show me where the M44 OBDII software is offered, I don't see it in these websites. | I was trying to point out that nobody has anything for the M44, and maybe you should ask Mark D'Sylva to make something for the Ti, which he might do if we ordered 10 or 20 units. . .and he might give a slight GB discount. As in put it on a dyno, test it, and reprogram it(which is what D'Sylva would need a Ti guinea pig for in Toronto.) This would be a truly custom tuning specifically for your car. . .which would be somewhat better than an off-the-shelf program that was done by tuning a car, but not your car, because every car is slightly different. Probably pretty pricey though, and probably not worth it unless you have already spent big $ on mods like a custom turbo or something and need the custom tuning. I mentioned Autothority because you said you were interested in custom work, and they may local to you, depending on where in Md you are located. | | | 06-23-2008, 07:09 PM | #100 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | Thanks alot pal, I really appreciate that, but guess what.... I have a 5 speed manual OBDII. It revs high pretty smooth. My car is in need of a deep oil change, so I'll have to change it to feel the full enjoyment. The Dinan software upgrade retails at $299 + 1/2 hour labor. = should be about $50 | | | 06-25-2008, 06:00 AM | #104 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Va Posts: 256 | Enjoy. | | | 01-05-2009, 05:59 PM | #105 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: Rensselaer, NY Posts: 254 | Sorry to bump an old thread but I was wondering if anybody had more information on the Dinan software? BMW_Hatchback, how are you enjoying the software 6 months later? Does anybody think buying this software for an auto would be a waste of money? __________________ | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
