Default Website server upgrade

318ti.org started out on a shared hosting server.
When the site started to slow down it was moved to a Virtual Private Server.
The site still shared resources with neighboring sites but with not as many.
It has done well for the past three years.

Recently I've noticed slowdowns again due to running out of diskspace and not enough RAM. Error 500 messages.
So it's time to move to a dedicated server. I can't put it off any longer.

We will move from 1Gb of RAM to 4Gb. 35Gb of diskspace to 237Gb.
What does this mean for you? Nothing.

Me? Well, it does cost a bit more money.
I'm not worried about it.
I may add an additional ad for those who are viewing as a guest.
Those registered won't see it. It will be business as usual.

I do not want to add paid sponsors. I like it they way it is now.

Thank you.

Ok, time for donating!

When (not if) you move the forum to the new database, how will that impact the server/hosting?

I have no knowledge of BB software size, the demand they place on a system, etc, just curious...

The new forum runs much more efficiently. Should be faster page load times.
It still needs a few more addon mods to make it work.
I need a downloads section but what I really like is the wiki.
Almost anyone will be able to update it. I think that will be the site's biggest feature.

How to articles will simply be forum posts.
Eventually there will be a garage.
Currently there is no gallery but that too will happen.

In the meantime by upgrading the present server, this site should feel like it had an engine conversion instead of running at redline all the time.

Thanks for the donation.

Expect some sporadic outages while the server is transferred over.
I noticed at 4:00am Eastern there were problems.

That's not necesary.
It will probably go down tonight after midnight. IP addresses need to be changed.
I just hope the site feels faster. Nothing like spending money on go fast mods and not feeling it.

The site has been transferred to a dedicated server.
More RAM, more diskspace. More room to grow.
