I wonder why your old EWS module is black and that unknown plate is a hood hinge shim.

the black EWS module says EWS II on it to clear up any confusion, idk why its black either

I hooked up an extra ground wire to the engine arm, I followed bluebimma's diagram shown here:



I thought the original ground wire was not grounded, but it turns out it was there all along, but I still hooked up a ground to the engine arm anyway. Here is what I did, you can see the original motor to chassis ground wire a lil beside the new black ground:





However, this did not solve the problem. Unless I have to mount the extra ground to the same post as the neg battery cable... Like bluebimma did here

I've fixed a couple weak engines this way too.

I have also used a #10 wire and drilled some shallow holes and ran a ground from head to block. A lot of the new head gaskets seem to insulate too well...

cant remember or obd2 differs but i think there should only be two power wires going to positive.
