Just a detail and you'd probably never know it was ever apart... Still looks like a nice ti! I had the same thing happen in my 91 318ic Vert (Bert) last year. A kid with a suspended license texting on his cell phone didn't see me at a stop sign. I couldn't get off the line fast enough before I got hit. Geico could not find any other 318ic's in a 1000 mi radius and found a nice one at a dealer in Utah. Similar payout, however my salvage buyback was $1200, so you scored. All is straight in my car as well, but Bert got tagged as salvage. Still driving around. I may part it out if it dosen't pass California inspection for salvage title later this year, as I was renewing it when it got hit so there's lotsa new/desireable parts in it. Your rear panel looks workable working from the inside. You should be able to rub the back portion right out... (supprized that hasn't been said yet. ) Get one of these to pull from the outside if you're inclined. http://www.harborfreight.com/stud-we...kit-98357.html. If you do end up parting it out, (which I really hope you dont...) can I get in line for a few items please. The 3 spoke steering wheel. If you have a lower x-brace and/or an upper strut brace dibs there too please. If you have Cruise Control, I'd be interested in all the components (Actuator, stalk, brake switch, harnesses) as well as the OBD. Cheers! __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! Hope you fix and keep it. You have a nice ti and I was happy to have seen it in person. I installed a complete OEM system in the car, and somehow one wire is still wrong. When I went to the dealership to have it coded, he said the speedo from the gauges was not sending the speed information, so the C.C. won't work. I was burnt out on that upgrade, so I never did sort it out. Quote: Originally Posted by BlackBMWs I missed this post, sorry for getting hit. Still looks like a nice ti! I did push out the rear panel somewhat from the inside, could try some more, or as someone suggested, pull it from the outside. At least I can hold my head up somewhat, when driving it now. Funny thing is, after finishing the work, I started the car and a CEL came on. Code said Cam Position Sensor. Must be a coincidence, since I did nothing in that area. Bought a replacement, putting it in tomorrow. Quote: Originally Posted by J!m Car looks great eric! Just a detail and you'd probably never know it was ever apart... After installing the fender and door, here are two things I learned. 1. Front fenders are NOT all the same. Not until I mounted the fender did I say, "Hey, where does the turn signal mount on the fender"? Turns out earlier models did not have the cut out for the added signals. I guess I will cut a hole for it. 2. The reason the part number of the door changed after 1997 has to do with the side airbags. Basically the doors are the same.....except, on the later models, like mine, there was extra sheet metal to mount the side airbag. Not an issue on my car since it didn't have side airbags yet; came months later. __________________ 1998 (July) 318ti, 5-spd OEM Armrest Blaupunkt Heidelberg CD50 CD Player/Compact Drive MP3 Player Diamond Audio 5.25" rear speakers Navman ICN 530 GPS BMWALARM.COM (with comfort settings) after market alarm system Magnecor 8.5mm wires M-Z3 Shifter/Momo Knob Burlwood Dashboard Stromung Exhaust X-brace Racing Dynamics Front Strut Bar Carbonio C.A.I. 17" Rial Rims Vader Seats/Heated/Lumbar Support M-tech Steering Wheel/Front Sway Bar/Front & Rear Bumper Depos/w 6500K Angel Eyes/6000K HIDs Clear Corners M3 Mirrors UUC Light Weight Flywheel/M5 Clutch/M3 Clutch Slave E28 3.46 LSD/Mcoupe Cover/E30 Flanges & Halfshafts UUC S.S. Posts: 3,156 | What I know of the fenders for the ti is that the early ones (95) have a larger hole for the side signal repeater and the later ones (96+) have a smaller hole for it. L/F fender (to 9/96) 41.35.1.977.875 R/F fender (to 9/96) 41.35.1.977.876 L/F fender (from 9/96) 41.35.8.223.923 R/F fender (from 9/96) 41.35.8.223.924 I was not aware that there were any other versions. The only numbers I have are above. Even with the dates above (through end of the third quarter of 96), I have not seen any 96 with the larger lights, only 95's. (that does not mean they are not around) Door was a new one on me, but like you said, no air bag; no problem. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
