I'm looking to get a pair but need to know how decent they are. The few I found on eBay looked pretty crappy. Also, how much did you pay for shipping/C.O.D/custom fees etc? They're just as good of quality as the OEM Mtech mirrors, the only difference is the aftermarket ones have a wide angle feature which is kinda cool once you get used to it. I think they're a little quieter than the stock non-mtech mirrors too. One thing I suggest is reusing your triangular rubber seals off of your old mirrors. The seals provided with the aftermarket mirrors seems to be softer and less resistant to the elements as the original seals. I reused mine, they fit perfectly. http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18054 | | | 12-14-2011, 03:38 AM | #6 | Member Join Date: Dec 2011 Location: Helsinki Posts: 44 | That looks awesome. Btw, in one of the pictures (the reflection in "Nice Glossy finish") is Jess enthusiastically giving us the finger ? hahahaha wicked!!! | Mtech mirrors are a relatively inexpensive way to give your car a sporty look. They're easy to install, but painting them can spoil the project if you rush or don't have experience. Since my car is black, it was easy to match the paint. Duplicolor was pretty close. In your case, I'd probably take them to a paint and body shop and have them sprayed. Otherwise there's a website(can't remember the name, maybe someone can help me) that sells factory colors in aerosol cans. I'm pretty sure your car is AvusBlau, but you'll need to get the numeric paint code off of the driver's side strut tower in the engine compartment. yeah, you caught me. | | | 12-14-2011, 02:10 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | paintscratch.com is one of the sites where you can buy auto paint and clear in aerosol cans. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 12-15-2011, 03:00 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | i've got to do the M3 mirrors for Zippy also...maybe this will be my motivation. __________________ Sean 1995 Active Last edited by teetime4one; 12-17-2011 at 02:31 PM. | | | 12-15-2011, 04:45 AM | #10 | Member Join Date: Dec 2011 Location: Helsinki Posts: 44 | Jess, you recommend "lightly sanding". What grit size did you use? P1000? They're the same exact mirrors, came in the same packaging and if I remember correctly the ones I bought on ebay were $125. | | | 12-18-2011, 05:11 AM | #14 | Member Join Date: Apr 2010 Location: san diego Posts: 97 | Most vendors use the same distribution companies for he.mirrors. DDMs mirrors are no different than the ones on ebay. If you do buy through ddm, make sure you test fit the mirrors to see if the motors are working right since once they are painted, the warranty is voided. Electrodyne.cc sells the same.mirrors and you can get them in a carbon fiber finish. Also, there are no taxes or fees that ddm will charge you for the international package but im sure canadian customs will. __________________ 96ti. k&n intake, racing dynamics sport springs, koni yellows, DJ auto head lights: cut off mod, frenched high beam ellipsoids, 5k HIDs, Frenched fog lights with 3k HIDs, style 104 rims, blacked out grilles, smoked clear corner lights, side markers, tail lights | | | 12-18-2011, 03:33 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: Philly Posts: 605 | DDT has to make a profit too i'd go with ebay over them any day, no offense. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
