I'm interested in what your Indie had to do to get it to work. I am looking to piece together similarly the parts to add CC to my 95 Sport. I'll seek parts from an Active first and then see what parts are E36 common pieces. Lotsa E36s in the yards around Sacramento. When I do get to it, I'll snap some pics for a DIY. I would have loved to have been able to pull the parts myself and no doubt would have saved money. Just avoid Bavarian, way overpriced. | Actually, I typically hit one of the 5 pick n pulls in the 40 mi radius, although the only ti I found was a 1995 ti sport in Oakland 1 week after picking up my ti. Actually a good score as many of the parts I wanted were still there. Oakland is a little further than my beaten path, but it turned out to be a well worth trip. Was the "all European" the import Pick n pull lot? They sold that property and expanded the main lot. Lots of E30s, E28, E34 and E38s. Usually 5 or 6 E36s to pick off of. Bavarian can be pricey, but I did score rear speaker/shelf mounts for $17 a piece and they had recently had their speakers replaced and included the tweeters. Anyway, I usually look for parts for a few models and the hunt is half the fun... __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! I had five models I was working on, so I collected a few(lots) of various parts. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! What a PITA - not impossible, just kinda amazed how much stuff has to come apart. The biggest negative has been that one of the copper lugs on the starter broke. I think there's enough left to save it. Looks like I was just in time. The plastic coolant pipe came apart in my hands - radiator broke the other day. Also snapped off the water pump ears trying to use the extra bolt hole method after wrestling with it. A claw hammer popped it out in about 2 seconds. Just have to bolt it back together tomorrow. Also a couple of clips came loose on two of the injectors - should pop back on. Fingers crossed it will start again. | | | 04-01-2012, 12:02 PM | #2175 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Monterey, CA Posts: 770 | Quote: Originally Posted by BMW_Hatchback That E46 bumper better not touch that car :P and I thought you didn't dig cross platform swaps? looks cool | No not at all. I just know that an other E36 chassis will handle the ls1 power better than the Ti can. I'm still in the process of deciding which cars will get certain engines but this Ti was a deal that I couldn't pass up. That e46 bumber was included in the "clear out my storage unit" deal, I'll add it beside the other one I have. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
