All in all not a bad job. The passenger side bearing was absolute TOAST with the race stuck to the stub axle, needed a puller to get it free. Had a difficult time getting the new hub to slip back on. Driver's side was easy peasy, lemon squeezy. | | | 01-13-2014, 02:00 AM | #17 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | Replaced the windshield cowls, fender liners, and then made and installed a custom underpanel fashioned after the JTD design (all this done on Max) __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. A bit cold wearing a t-shirt while driving at night with the window stuck down! My landlord let me use his garage to fix it when I got back so that was good. The forward arm on the regulator was bent over 45 degrees inward For now the window is back up in the closed position, but I won't be able to use it at all until I get another regulator as it's pretty much beyond repair this time. __________________ 1997 318ti 5-speed Moreagrün 1996 318ti auto Hellrot (retired) | | | 01-13-2014, 03:00 PM | #19 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | Quote: Originally Posted by MINIz guy Perforated leather. Ordered my regulator from VDO. Stay away from the import ones like URO or Eurasia. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk | It's one of those covers that you sew on. For less than $8, I am really happy with the outcome. A very thick and padded steering wheel, about the same diameter as my old M5's wheel. I pieced together a bunch of those sewing guides until I got the stitching I wanted without it looking cheap or too loose. You will need more thread than they give you; waxed thread is what they use but strong nylon upholstery thread held up fine for me. __________________ 2000 M5 -> 1996 318ti -> 1997 328i Instagram: ndrewchow YouTube: MINIzguy | | | 01-14-2014, 01:39 AM | #21 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2013 Location: Enumclaw, WA Posts: 22 | Left window regulator, oil canister gasket, valve cover gaskets, and upgraded hoses and vac lines. It improved the looks and visibility. Then I tried to buff out some scratches with cerium oxide paste...no luck. Sourced a steel muffler coupling from Auto Zone, just slightly larger in diameter that the stock tip. Polished it on a buffing wheel to chrome color, then flattened one end slightly so the resulting tension between the stock tip and the now shiny coupling would bind the two together without any hardware. Slide it on the stock tip; adjust the length protruding from the bumper to suit your taste; and your done. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
