But usually people in m5's should be old enough and intelligent enough not to do something like that.. Can you objectively spot the difference between a stupid person and reckless one? - Well. . . I guess it depends on the situation. | | | 04-01-2007, 09:14 PM | #15 | Member Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Scotland Posts: 41 | I read a psychologists report about racing drivers, in particular Formula One. The psychologist related being driven by Stirling Moss along a highway to a hotel for an interview. Moss almost missed the exit, managed to get onto the exit ramp at 70 mph, then continued to drive along the curving exit ramp at 70, in a four wheel drift, while reaching into the glove compartment for a cassette tape, loading it into the cassette player, and all the time talking to the good doctor. When questioned later about this display of multi-tasking at speed, Moss could not understand what was remarkable. He thought it was normal, that everybody could do that sort of thing. As the psychologist later summarised, racing drivers and fighter pilots seem to come from a different planet. They just process information so much faster than normal, and seem to live in a different time-line from the rest of us. That is their skill, their gift. Others who try to copy them are just plain stupid, particularly when risking others lives. __________________ 2000 316i SE Compact 1.9 | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
