Default m42 fuel

ok guys i'm wondering what type of gas i should run on my stock 42? i currently run reg. unleaded i'm wondering b/c i want to make sure i don't do anything bad to the engine that could pot. kill it.

could u guys help me out?

it does say in the manual that you need a min. of mid-grade fuel but I don't think you would really damage anything with reg.

I ran regular for a few years; the engine has knock sensors that retard the timing if you're knocking, so you can run 87 with no adverse results other than a loss of power. Mid-grade is preferable, though, as it allows the engine to run as it should and reduces carbon buildup.

Yeah, I think theres a sticker that says min. 89 octane on the gas cap. Its not going to kill, just kill the power.

ok i will start puttin mid-grade in the next time i fill up just put gas in last tuesday (don't drive it a lot drive my sister's prius cuz it sits in the garage a lot since she went to college)

ya I run 91 in my car seemings how I was starting to lose my gas mileage like crazy when I ran 89 down here but then again we have Ethanol mixed with it so I'm not sure if that was the problem or what. Once I started to run 91 after a few tanks or so my car cleared up quite a bit and it getting excellent gas mileage again.

so my gas cap says i should use 89AKI but right now i'm using 91. will using 91 f up my engine??

I put 87 in mine once and it ran bad.

I cannot tell any difference between 89 and 93 so I put in the 89.
