Default A/C concern

I just got back from lunch and I am a little scared about my situation.. I haven't had anytime to look under the hood to look and see if the compressor is spinning and what not, BUT here is my problem (and I haven't seen it in any other threads.. correct me if I am wrong)

I just recharged my a/c last night. I drove to work this morning with it off because it wasn't to bad outside. Just about twenty mins ago I went out for lunch and decided to try my nice new cool air. (it was working last night when I recharged it). I turned it on to fan speed 3 and started to drive out of the parking lot. This noise that sounded like a whale came out from underneath the hood as I was accelerating.

Long story short... I messed around at different rpms and fan speeds..
My results are--- makes a noise at all fan speeds around 2200rpms, 3200rpms (didn't go any higher). When the noise occurs at those speeds I can hardly accelerate. After I pass those rpms, the noise goes away and acceleration is what it normally would be. *NOTE: car runs fine with a/c off

I'm just wondering if anyone has had a problem like this before. As I said in the beginning I haven't looked under the hood yet. I'm guessing it is compressor related.

did they add any refrigerant oil when they recharged it? sounds like its a bad compressor. seized or something. did you get any burnt rubber smell?

I didn't add any refrigerant oil. Just the dupont freon from advanced auto parts. I do think it may be the compressor, but I cant look at it at work. No burnt rubber smell. It was blowing a little air when I was driving so the belt hasn't seized yet

Check with a dealer to see if you had the AC expansion valve replaced.

I had the same problem, same noise after recharge, it ended up being that I over recharged and it needed oil, got it drained, and recharged to specification and added oil. Problem gone and Compressor is happy and air is cooold.
