I just bought my ti just yesterday and I'm looking for ways to improve my suspension and brakes right now. The brakes and suspension are basically shot on my ti. btw I'm coming from the e30 world.. Dlag, as far as ways to improve your setup depends on your budget... but for around $250 you can upgrade your front brakes to a 325/8 setup. I got 2 calipers/carriers from BavAutoRecyclers for $25 each that come with warranty, and then its your pick brand of rotor and pad. As far as rear brakes, there is alot of info kicking around here about different methods to upgrade the rear. I have not got to that point yet so I can't say anything. For suspension, again its your choice and that depends on your budget and what your intentions for the car are. If I had the cash I would go with a PSS9 Bilstein kit... but for now I stick with a nice proven, reliable set up. Sport Bilstein struts and H&R sport springs, which btw is a fairly nice ride and still handles excellent IMO. Then you can get into things such as upgrading the sway bars, add a X-brace, etc etc - Poke around the sections on the forum for alot more in-depth reading about whats been tried and proven. __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 07-14-2009, 01:54 AM | #9 | Member Join Date: Jan 2009 Location: 95602 Posts: 34 | Philly, thanks for the advice. I will prob go with H&R/Koni combo with 300mm brakes.. | | | 07-14-2009, 01:58 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: SOUTH Jersey Posts: 1,085 | I run the pss9 set up with the 328 brakes and slotted ATE rotors with hawk HPS pads. Also running all polybushings and I have to say my little ti has surprised E46 M3s in the corners. If nothing else just to have the vented rears. Although, I'm not really sure that the Ti needs improved brakes in the rear. I've been able to mess with pad compounds and get mine to work very well, and I don't have any overheating problems with the rears... Of course, the maximum speed with the 4-banger is different than the top speed with a straight six. The big concern I would have is getting to much braking force in the rear. I actually had to go to a less aggressive pad in the rear and change my suspension setup a bit because I was getting some rear "wag" on really high speed braking zones.. | | | 07-15-2009, 03:45 AM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: maritimes Posts: 1,433 | Quote: Originally Posted by dguzzardo22 what year 325 cal and 328 fit the ti also . is it a direct swap caliper and rotor? nothing else . | calipers/carriers/rotors and pads. not sure if the lines are the same, cant quite recall... i don't think i changed mine - which reminds me, I still have a set of UUC steel lines to throw on the car laying around somewheres... ill have to find those and install them... or post em for sale. __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
