Hi All,

I'm new here, and I'm interested in buying a 97/98/99 ti...

My question is -- I know that the Active models came with the electric moonroof, but did the Sport models also come with the moonroof (or was it an extra option on top of the Sport package)?

I'm sure someone out there can help!

Thanks a lot, great board you guys have here!

It looks like the moonroof was standard only on an Active.

It was optional on the base and sport.
I have seen very few without a moonroof.
Usually people do not want the moonroof to add a little more headroom for helmet clearance.

I'm assuming we are talking about the US.
In 1999 there was only the Sport and not that many at that.

In '98 any roof could be optioned on the sport model. The package did not include any roof opening.

At the time it was about $500.00 for the moon roof and $1200.00 for the California roof. Either was available, if you had the cash.

My car does not have any roof opening, to save cash, reduce weight up high in the car and for helmet clearance as stated by Steve. A portion of my deposit when I ordered the car was 'non-refundable' as the dealer 'does not get BMW's without a sun-roof'. But guess what- it doesn't leak either!
