I wish it was for better reasons... When my father in law passed he left his 318ti sport for my son to drive. 3 days later my son wrecked it. I am trying to figure out what to do with it: -Has about 86K of baby'ed miles -Always garaged -Clean interior -almost brand new tires (Michelin) -newer brakes -all synthetics, always -black -Sport /M-package -Pioneer CD Player It stills runs like a top, everything still works except the power windows (passenger side because the door was munched in the wreck, driver side is unhooked because it kept jumping the track). It is still drivable but I wouldn't take it very far. It was t-boned on the passenger side. Insurance says it's about 4,200 bucks in damage. it still tracks straight, the hatch, hood, and driver's side door all still line up nicely and open/close nicely. I don't have a good pictures of it yet but will soon I hope. What do you guys think I should do? I do not think the title is salvaged yet. I think if I sell it, before they do any judgments on it we can avoid it. I do not have the means to repair it myself but it is way too nice a car (even now) to just sell to a wrecker or part out... What do you guys think? | | | 12-03-2009, 07:23 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | a t-bone crash will normally do enough damage to make the car not worth fixing unfortunately, did the rocker panel and roof get any damage? | | | 12-03-2009, 11:35 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Long Beach area Posts: 1,189 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak a t-bone crash will normally do enough damage to make the car not worth fixing unfortunately, did the rocker panel and roof get any damage? | Unfortunately, he's right. If the damage is just the body panels, it shouldn't be as bad compared to a damaged frame. __________________ 97 Jet Black 318ti Sport. Not so stock anymore!.... The lower rocker (I THINK) is damage free. the damage is much centralized to the door and the rear quarter. the rear quarterwindow still closes but it won't stay shut. I guess it comes down to I NEED TO post pictures. I'll get them on tonight. | | | 12-03-2009, 05:16 PM | #5 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | Quote: Originally Posted by rang-a-stang I guess it comes down to I NEED TO post pictures. | Um... heh heh heh Seriously though... They usually can tell you if there are more damage than on the surface. Hope you can post some pics for the member to see and give you better advices. Hope it's worth fixing it up. My 95 Ti was hit in the same way, door just as bad, but rear quarter only had a dent by the door jam, was quoted $2300, and they still totaled it. __________________ -Jeff | | | 12-04-2009, 03:30 AM | #11 | Z3 Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Usa Posts: 660 | My ti was hit similarly.. but more up front ... It's dead with a bad timing chain. How hard would it be to put my engine into a 95? Is 95 OBDII? I know smog would not like the newer engine in an older car, but i would think they wouldn;t check the numbers if the car looks stock... right? Worse case scenario, i cut the 95 up, part the rest out and fix mine... Rear suspension is bent inward. I'm not sure if it is suspension that is bent or suspension mounting points. | | | 12-04-2009, 05:47 PM | #14 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | 95's are OBD1. __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH!
