I deleted the belt going to my a/c and I am not planning in removing all of it. Now I know that the a/c works off of freon, but how would I go about discharging it? Any one else removed the a/c? | | | 12-19-2005, 10:35 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Mt. I don't think your defroster is going to work either. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 12-20-2005, 12:19 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | Quote: Originally Posted by barische i cut the belt too, but towards the summer imm gonna put one back in | You could have just loosened the bolt on the idler pulley..that way you can put it back on using the parts you removed. | | | 12-20-2005, 12:21 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | Quote: Originally Posted by DustenT Don't discarge the A/C. It is just a position for the air to come out. I have been able to keep the windshield fog free so far with no a/c. | | | 12-20-2005, 12:25 AM | #6 | doesn't care about you. You're not supposed to do this, because it damages the Ozone layer. You're supposed to take it somewhere, but screw that, just let it blow. Getting it recharged can be pricey, so only do this if you never plan on using it. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 12-21-2005, 01:31 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | It blows fairly warm still. I was just hoping freon wouldn't kill me. So no I really never plan on putting it back in. I hardly used it during the summer because it drained so much power. It was more of an irritation than anything. Maybe I am just weird. | | | 12-22-2005, 11:29 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Iasi, Romania Posts: 101 | Would you give me your air conditioning and I would give you my stock blower? | | | 12-22-2005, 11:30 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Iasi, Romania Posts: 101 | It's really hot in sommer time here so an AC unit would really help. | | | 12-22-2005, 11:33 PM | #10 | doesn't care about you. The engine does run quieter and possibly a little better throttle response. The main benefits would be increased cooling to the radiator by removal of the condenser, weight reduction by removal of the rest of the associated components. Andrei--I am still unsure as to whether or not I will fully delete the a/c or not. | | | 12-23-2005, 04:02 AM | #14 | doesn't care about you.
